Dear otbfc,

I've just found your website and think it's excellent, I've always
looked on the series with great fondness, it brings back some
excellent memories of my childhood, I seem to remember watching
it on Sunday nights in the early seventies (Granada region).

I particularly like the movie 'Holiday on the buses' as we visited
the very Pontins holiday camp about 3 years after the film was made
and I can still remember all the location shot sites from my
visit there, ie the ballroom, the chalets, the swimming pool and the
gates where Blakey worked on the security and also the little annex
where Jack carried on with Blakeys nurse girlfriend.

It's a shame about Bob Grant, I do remember him appearing on an afternoon chat show in the early
80's after he had suffered a bout of depression and his family had
worried about his wellbeing and state of mind. Its a shame that he
didn't realise that he actually is very much appreciated. During this
interview it was plain to see that he was still upset and depressed
I believe he had gone to Ireland during his disappearance as he had
expressed a great affinity for the Irish people.

I shall certainly drop by on this site again, well done, its a fine tribute
to a marvellous series.
Best wishes

Stephen Bray

Hi Steve
Just to say thanks for the email about the video releases if you get any more info whatsoever regarding on the buses let me know.I have been a huge fan since a young age and I am a bus driver and have been for the last 7 years the company I work for runs a city tour service during the summer months using a ex london routemaster bus it also has a clippy on the back he takes the fares every time i am on this route I always give a thought to jack stan and blakey and the rest of the gang and think of the fun they had filming all the series and 3 feature films.I have spoken to a lot of bus drivers who drove buses in the 1960s and 70s and they tell me driving a crew operated bus was a lot of fun compared to nowadays. My favourite episode is "the new uniforms"my fave film in "holiday on the buses"which was filmed in prestatyn in north wales I have actually been there in my bus with a load of holiday makers and drew up to the security lodge half expecting blakey to open the door clipboard in hand!!!
Cheers David
