Sadly the part of Elstree used as a bus depot frontage in the ON THE BUSES movie is no longer. Built on the land is now a 24hour supermarket.

However by a twist of fate the land is also used by buses as a terminus and has several bus stops and shelters.

Even more quirky is that in the movie after the bus ends up going down the motorway and getting back late to the Depot, an elderly lady gets of an says "3 hours on this bus and I only wanted to go to Tesco."

The place she got of is nowTesco's.

A bus driver taking a break in his bus on Tesos land, the buildings in the background are Elstree Studios.

It gets stranger!

The bus in the picturebelow is operated by a company called Sullivan Buses. I had a chat to the driver who just happened to mention Sullivan's hire out buses for filming. They have hired out buses for Holby, The Bill, Doctor Who and other tv programmes.

They also have a Routemaster in their fleet.

It gets Spookier, unlike many bus companies their web sites has links to other sites of interest to bus enthusiasts. They even have buses for sale on the web site.

To see Sullivan Buses web site click on the picture below.

Here is part of an email from the owner of Sullivan Buses.
Excellent! Great Fan of the old On the Buses shows/films. Good to pick out all the locations.
The bus in your picture is our ELV1 which was on lastChristmases edition of Dr Who. It has done several movies and was featured in Derren Browns recent Trick or Treat series (see YouTube clip)
We supplya number ofbuses for film and TV. Our most popular is DN02SUL which is a single deck bus normally used on local Borehamwood services. It has special destination blinds for Holby City & East Enders. Its done a few episodes of The Bill and a small armful of commercials. Yesterday it was out filminganother TV commercial in Wokingham.
Look forward to checking your site out again soon.

But what is this lurking behind the buildings on Elstree Film Studios plot
